The tribute "Work Out of the Day" event will be held in honor of Sgts. Mark Dunakin, Ervin Romans, Daniel Sakai and Officer John Hege. Police said they were killed by 26-year-old Oakland resident Lovelle Mixon, an ex-felon who was wanted on a no-bail warrant for allegedly violating his parole by failing to meet with his parole officer.

The Police Department is encouraging participants to make a donation of at least $10 to the families of the four officers.

The event will take place at 8 a.m., 9 a.m. and 10 a.m. at the CrossFit Solano facility, which is owned and operated by Vallejo Police Department officers and located in Suite 11 at 1128 Western St.
