Thirteen fourth graders at Highlands Elementary School in Pittsburg, either called in sick or were sent home on Tuesday when they came down with flu-like symptoms.

They were all in the same class and one had a relative visiting from Mexico.

Public health officials say at least three youngsters tested positive for possible swine flu.

The school tripled its custodial staff and spent the rest of the day sanitizing the building.
