A construction crew broke through a three-quarter-inch gas line in a parking lot on Knickerbocker Drive near El Camino Real at about 8:45 a.m., Pilger said.

Two of the three lanes on westbound El Camino Real were shut down while Pacific Gas and Electric Co. crews and Sunnyvale public safety personnel sealed off the leak, Pilger said.

The lanes have since reopened. Eastbound lanes were not affected by the break.
