The single-alarm fire was reported at about 6:20 p.m. in a home at 524 Thompson Ave., spokesman Lynn Brown said.

Firefighters brought the flames under control at about 6:30 p.m. A damage estimate wasn't immediately available, but Brown said the blaze was mostly contained to the garage.

A neighboring home suffered minor damage due to exposure. Brown said the homeowner sustained minor injuries while trying to extinguish the blaze.

Investigators are working to determine the cause of the fire.
