Juan Cerritos was arrested at his work in Point Richmond Wednesday afternoon on suspicion of child endangerment, French said.

Earlier today, police reported that Cerritos and his wife were inside their house at about 12:40 p.m. when Cerritos allegedly took the baby outside and left him in a field near a bike path between Chanslor and Ohio avenues.

The mother and a passerby allegedly saw Cerritos leave the baby and quickly picked him up. The infant was unharmed, French said.

The mother said she didn't know why Cerritos had taken the baby and claimed that they had not been arguing.

Cerritos allegedly told police that he had had an argument with his wife, but denied leaving the baby, French said. He said he left after the argument and went to work.
