3.0 earthquake strikes near Berkeley

The U.S. Geological Survey is reporting that an earthquake with a preliminary of 3.0 struck near Berkeley Wednesday afternoon.

According to the USGS, the earthquake occurred at 3:34 p.m. and had a depth of about 7.3 miles. It was centered about 2 miles east-southeast of Berkeley and 5 miles north of Oakland.

A Berkeley police dispatcher said there were no immediate reports of damage.

There was a 10-minute BART delay on the Richmond Line in the Fremont, Richmond and SFO directions.
