USGS holds open house this weekend

The U.S. Geological Survey will kick off this weekend's open house at the USGS Science Center in Menlo Park with an opening ceremony today.

USGS Deputy Director Robert Doyle, Director of the California Department of Conservation Bridgett Luther, California State Geologist John Parrish and USGS Western Region Director Anne Kinsinger will speak about the role USGS plays in science, according to event organizers.

The Ninth Triennial Open House will offer insight into earthquakes, water quality, volcanoes, coastal and marine geology and the San Francisco Bay ecosystem.

The opening ceremony begins at 10 a.m. at 345 Middlefield Road in Menlo Park. The open house is from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday and Sunday.
