Maria Shriver along with Bay Area chef Alice Waters toured the new edible garden at the State Capitol.

Shriver planted some parsley saying the new garden is meant to encourage school children to plant similar gardens at their own schools.

She says she got the idea after a visit to the edible garden at Martin Luther King Junior school in Berkeley.
