Some organic foods more worth the money

The recession is forcing consumers to make practical choices about when to spend the extra money on organic food.

Foods with protective peels, like citrus, avocados and onions do not necessarily need to be organic because they have their own protective coating.

As for meats, shoppers might consider "natural" over "organic." While natural is not regulated, many ranches feed livestock grass and they are free of hormones and antibiotics.

When it comes to milk, studies have found that organic is still the best choice because of higher levels of healthy fats and antioxidants.
