The woman was hit by a 1999 Chevy Lumina while walking in the 2100 block of Brittan Avenue around 8:45 p.m., San Carlos police Sgt. Marti Overton said.

After striking the pedestrian, the car drove through the front lawns of several houses before coming to rest against a car parked in a driveway, Overton said.

The woman suffered two broken legs and cuts to her face and head, Overton said. She was transported to Stanford Hospital where she is now listed in stable condition.

The driver of the Lumina, a 25-year-old woman, was not injured, Overton said.

The cause of the crash remains under investigation, but Overton said alcohol does not appear to have been a factor. The driver was not arrested.
