One dead, three injured in HW101 crash

The solo-vehicle crash was reported just after midnight at the connector ramp from southbound U.S. Highway 101 to southbound Interstate Highway 880, the CHP reported.

Initial reports indicate a 1998 Isuzu Rodeo attempted to negotiate the transition ramp between Highway 101 and Highway 880 when the vehicle left the roadway and crashed into a wall, according to the CHP.

One person, a 22-year-old Oakland resident, was pronounced dead at the scene. That person's identity has not yet been released.

The other three occupants, including the driver, were transported to Valley Medical Center for treatment to injuries, the CHP reported. The 20-year-old driver of the vehicle was taken into custody.
