The CHP is searching parts of Highway 17 near the downtown Los Gatos exit after one of ABC7's photographers almost hit the cat around 3 am Friday morning.
The animal was described as very large and was spotted less than a quarter mile from a construction crew.
If you spot the cat you're asked to call CHP immediately.
