Delta pumps are turned back on

Water is now flowing into the San Joaquin Delta. On Wednesday, at two water stations in Tracy, pumps were turned on.

They had been shut off until now to help protect endangered fish.

But now, most migrating fish have passed through and scientists believe it's safe to send irrigation water south again.

It's unclear at this point how long the pumps will get to stay on.

It's also not known exactly how much water drought-stricken farmers in the Central Valley will receive.
