The newspaper will no longer print its own daily editions -- for the first time in more than a century.

That job has now been assigned to a Canadian company with offices in Fremont.

More than 200 union workers at the Chronicle will lose their jobs in the switch.

The Chronicle says readers might actually notice a higher-quality product. The Chronicle's old printing presses were outdated and the paper claims these new presses will now be able to print magazine quality photographs.
