San Francisco murder rate drops in half

The numbers are according to the latest numbers from the police department, which puts the homicide rate at a nine-year low.

Investigators report 25 as of June 30th.

That compares with 52 for the first half of last year.

Police attribute the drop to a number of factors, including blanketing high crime areas with officers and also targeting those most responsible for crime in the city.
