VFTB Cares finalist: Mark Liebert

He wanted to people of the Bay Area to have an opportunity to become more physically fit, while taking into consideration the damage that athletes in training do to the environment. To that end, he started the Sustainable Sports Program which founded the Marin County Triathlon and Marin County Marathon which are events that are considered environmentally sound, meaning they find ways to actually benefit the environment like using recyclable materials for the participants and not disposing of a lot of trash. The proceeds of these two events helps to benefit various children's charities including Jenny's Light, Sunny Hills Services, and the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society. In addition to the proceeds of these two events going to children's charities, Mark includes races for children which encourages physical activity for younger people.
