Apple says 1-and a half billion applications for the iPhone and iPod touch have been downloaded since the store launched last summer. There are about 65,000 apps available. It took nine months for the first billion to be downloaded and just three months for the next half-billion.

Blackberry is trying to ramp up sales of its apps. It has launched a social network for its customers called "My Blackberry." Blackberry owners can create a profile where they can share opinions and recommendations about their favorite applications and accessories. Users can also share tips and tricks for using their Blackberrys.

Samsung has unveiled a new pocked-sized camcorder -- taking aim at the popular Flip camera. The most notable feature is its ability to shoot higher quality HD videos than the Flip and most other competitors. The camera also has one-touch YouTube uploads, expandable storage and a two-inch screen. The camcorder will be available in September and is expected to cost about $200.
