There is currently a vacancy on the seven-member International Exchange Commission, which advises City Council on issues related to Santa Clara's two sister cities-Coimbra, Portugal, and Izumo, Japan.

The deadline to apply is Aug. 19 and the commission generally meets the first Tuesday of the month.

Residents can also put their names on a mailing list to be notified when positions open up on similar city boards or commissions. These include the board of library trustees, housing rehabilitation loan committee and the civil service, cultural advisory, parks and recreation, planning, senior advisory, and youth commissions.

For more information, contact the city clerk's office at (408) 615-2220 or email clerk@santaclara.gov.
