The fire was reported at about 3:05 p.m. near Mountain House Parkway, an Alameda County fire dispatcher said.

Knowles said the fire was fully controlled sometime between 4:15 p.m. and 4:30 p.m.

The fire initially caused the brief closure of all eastbound Highway 580 lanes while firefighters crossed the highway, and then caused the closure of westbound lanes while crews battled flames adjacent to the highway, according to the CHP.

All eastbound and westbound lanes of the highway were reopened by 4:30 p.m., Knowles said.

No injuries were reported in connection with the blaze, which did not damage any structures, she said.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
