Senate to hold 'Don't Ask, Don't Tell' hearing

The Senate will hold hearings on the "Don't Ask Don't Tell" policy for the first time since the law was created in 1993.

The law forbids gays to serve openly in the military.

New York Senator Kirsten Gillibrand is pressing for a repeal of the ban. She says she secured a commitment from the head of the Senate Armed Services Committee to hold a hearing sometime this fall. Over 13,000 service members have been discharged since the policy began.
