Caltrain plans to start modifying the horns on its trains this weekend to silence complaints about them making too much noise.

This comes after mechanics moved the horns from the bottom to the top of trains last week in order to meet federal safety standards.

That produced a louder sound which bothered many people who live and work along Caltrain's tracks.

Engineers sound the horns as the trains approach stations and 44 railroad crossings between San Francisco and Gilroy.
