Officers responded to a report of a robbery in a parking lot at the Petaluma Village Premium Outlets at 2200 Petaluma Boulevard North just before 7 p.m.

A woman told police she was walking to her car after work when a man driving a small black four-door sedan approached her and asked for directions to the freeway. The suspect then pulled out a black semi-automatic handgun and demanded she hand over her purse.

When the victim complied, the suspect told her to turn around and not move until he was gone, police said. He then drove out of the lot onto Petaluma Boulevard North and fled in an unknown direction.

The suspect was described as a Hispanic man with spiked brown hair and brown eyes, a thin build and weighing about 150 pounds. He was wearing a black or gray T-shirt and black pants.

Anyone with information on the robbery is asked to call Petaluma police at (707) 778-4372.
