Mayor Ron Dellums and a top Housing and Urban Development (HUD) agency deputy showed off a model unit Thursday at Palo Vista Gardens.

It is one of six public housing projects receiving upgrades that include making the units more energy-efficient.

Over the next 18 months, HUD funds will be used to upgrade roofs, gutters, windows, plumbing, paving, exterior painting, and landscaping, creating roughly 50 new jobs.
