Officers responded to an anonymous report of two armed suspects near Vallejo Middle School at 1347 Amador St. around 7 p.m. Sunday.
Arriving officers apprehended two 15-year-old boys who tried unsuccessfully to run away. The boys had a rifle and a handgun, police said.
Investigators believe the firearms were stolen in a residential burglary. The boys, whose names have been withheld because of their age, were arrested.
The case remains under investigation.
