Snack foods can help prevent diseases

Researchers at the University of Scranton looked at common whole grain breakfast cereals and snack foods like popcorn.

They found these foods contained a surprising amount of an anti-oxidant known as polyphenol, known for its role in fighting cancer and heart disease.

Whole grains common to the American diet contain significant amounts of the antioxidant, particularly those made from oats or corn.
