At about 10:20 p.m. officers saw a man sitting on a motorcycle in the yard of a house on Rossi Avenue revving the engine repeatedly.

As the officers approached, the man, later identified as Robert Kelly, tried to escape by driving the motorcycle unsteadily on the sidewalk, police said.

The officers told Kelly to stop, but he didn't.

As Kelly drove slowly past the officers, one of the officers grabbed his shirt and he fell of the bike. He was not injured in the fall, police said.

The officers then discovered that the motorcycle had been reported stolen out of Pittsburg and that Kelly had a small amount of methamphetamine in his possession.

He was arrested and booked into county jail on drug and auto theft charges, police said.
