Both Kmart and Sears have announced the revival of "Christmas clubs." These were real popular in the 60's.

The idea is for you to deposit cash into an account and then spend money from that account for gifts.

The 21st century version has you putting money into a reloadable gift card.

This should be popular with those who don't want to put anything on credit.

"They like the convenience of plastic, but they don't like the bills that come in January," says Ellen Davis, from the National Retail Federation.
