Whole Foods stops taking checks

Some grocery stores have stopped accepting personal checks. Whole Foods no longer takes checks in its Los Angeles County stores.

Food industry consultants say other chains could follow suit. They say check-processing is time-consuming and expensive, especially at a time when the industry is trying to drive down costs.
