Kettlebell strength training is the latest in weight lifting. Leigh Glaser visited the Ice Chamber Training Center in Richmond with the benefits of Kettlebell and how training with the bell can get you fit for fall.

Kettlebell Sport Description
A Kettlebell is a traditional Russian cast iron weight that looks like a cannonball with a handle. First used to train Olympians and Eastern European strongmen, its history can be traced as far back as the 1800s. Kettlebell Sport emerged in Europe over 60 years ago and has recently gained popularity in the U.S. The sport is designed to increase strength, stamina, and coordination by challenging the muscular, cardiovascular and central nervous systems simultaneously.

The Benefits of Kettlebell Training

  1. It's an amazing, efficient total body workout

  2. It's easy to learn-great for all ages and all fitness levels

  3. It takes just 1 piece of equipment-so you can do it anywhere

  4. You can get a great total body workout in under 30 minutes

  5. Unlike dumbbell or barbell exercises, the Kettlebell is lifted nonstop for extended periods of time (usually 10 minutes) for an aerobic workout that will burn fat and build lean muscle.
