Principal Christina Velasco of Harvey Milk Academy had her hair sprayed purple before the whole student body on Friday morning.

Velasco told her students that she'd get her hair spray and teased, if everyone of them would turn in an application for free or reduced-price meals.

The applications not only allow the breakfast and lunch programs to offer more students a meal, but also help individual schools receive additional funding for everything from technology to teacher support.
