About $27 million was awarded to schools and cities around California, to train workers how to install solar panels, weatherize homes, and repair electric cars.

Nearly 5,600 people around the state will receive the training. Some of the money is federal stimulus funding.

The city of Richmond will get the most: a total of $1.5 million followed by San Francisco at $1.3 million. Sonoma county, the Contra Costa Community College District and the Peralta Community Colleges will get an even $1 million each.
