Group wants to simplify teen voter registration

The updated measure allowing all 17-year-olds to sign up early is on the governor's desk. Several other states already have such a law. Right now California teens must figure out if they will become 18 before or after the next election in order to sign up.

Opponents say if 17-year-olds cannot figure out when their birthday takes place they probably should not be voting. The measure passed in both the assembly and the senate earlier this year.
