The Coast Guard received a distress signal from a 40-foot sailboat participating in the Baha Ha Ha race shortly after 10 a.m. about 197 miles southwest of San Diego, the Coast Guard reported.

The two licensed masters and three students were hoisted onto a life raft, which subsequently transported them onto a helicopter. One suffered a minor hand injury, and all five arrived safely in San Diego at 4 p.m.
