State auditor issued report against Bay Area Bar Pilots

SAN FRANCISCO

Among the conclusions:

• Many pilots may not have been properly trained or evaluated, some were allowed to work without getting a required physical.
  
• The board took too long to complete its accident investigations.
  
• Pilots were allowed to fly business class to France for a seminar when they could have flown cheaper.

A Bar Pilot was held accountable for the crash of the Cosco Busan, and the oil spill that resulted, two years ago this month.
