Consumers changed spending habits during recession

Many shoppers changed their spending habits during the recession.

Eighteen percent of consumers have switched to lower priced brands, leaving the more expensive, designer brands behind.

Analysts at New McKinley Research say, even when times get better, a third of those consumers who have already switched, will stay with the lower cost items.

They say that four out of 10 people who made the switch are happy with their purchases.
