At a laundry that hired some of those employees, the mayor said he's seeking funding for another 1,300 jobs before the stimulus money expires next September.
Newsom says San Francisco was one of the first cities to aggressively pursue the grant.
"This is limitless. There is $1.8 billion that exists for this program in California alone and it's just a question of who draws those dollars down the fastest. We've drawn down about $25 million plus dollars already," said Newsom.
"Jobs Now" links San Francisco employers with qualified workers, and will subsidize 100 percent of their wages until September 30, 2010.
