Power moratorium in effect in CA until January

SAN FRANCISCO

The California Public Utilities Commission took the action in response to an alarming increase in shutoffs.

According to a report by a consumer group, household shut-offs in PG&E service areas are up 40 percent over last year -- and up 75 percent in low-income areas.

The temporary moratorium will be in place until January 4th.
