Pacifica AT&T cell service restored soon

PACIFICA, CA

Customers have been without AT&T cell phone service in the Linda Mar neighborhood of Pacifica since Friday, when it was discovered that the wires of a cell phone tower atop a nearby mountain were cut, AT&T spokesman John Britton said. More than 50 customers have called AT&T to complain since the problem began.

Mud on the road leading up to the tower hindered the efforts of crews to access the damaged site, prompting the nearly week-long wait for restored service, according to Britton.

"We were standing by since Friday ready to go up there and fix it, but the road was muddy from rain and we were told it was unsafe to go up there," he said.

This morning, officials from the water department helped crews reach the tower. It took them an hour to make the three-mile drive up the mountain, Britton said.
