UPS deliveryman arrested for stealing packages

FAIRFIELD, CA

Officers arrested Ronald Lozano, 38, of Fairfield, in the 200 block of Travis Boulevard after a month-long investigation into the theft of merchandise from the UPS distribution center in Fairfield, according to police.

Since April 2009, police said that personal packages and commercial merchandise worth more than $40,000 had been stolen from the UPS warehouse. Most of the stolen items were video games, laptop computers, camcorders, cell phones and iPods.

Lozano, an employee at UPS for more than 16 years, is now on leave pending termination.

Police said a search warrant was served at a residence in the 4900 block of Ridgefield Circle after Lozano's arrest, and that $8,000 worth of laptops and video game systems were recovered.

Lozano was arrested for embezzlement, possession of stolen property and grand theft and was booked into Solano County jail.
