Thieves steal copper wire from food bank

Thieves spoiled Christmas Eve for the Food Bank of Contra Costa and Solano.

Someone broke into the junction box to the food bank's solar panels and stole three feet of copper wire.

The wire will get the thieves a few bucks, but it will cost the food bank more than $1,000 to replace because they will have to rewire from the box to the solar panels.

They will also have to build a cage around the box to make sure it does not happen again.
