The fire broke out at about 11:20 p.m. in a home at 1131 Warren St., Contra Costa County Fire Protection District fire Investigator Randy Champion said.
Firefighters put the one-alarm blaze out within a couple of minutes, Champion said, but found Finley dead inside the home.
The cause of the fire is still under investigation, but it does not appear to be suspicious.
No other injuries were reported. Damage was estimated to be about $5,000, Champion said.
An autopsy was being conducted this morning, a deputy coroner said.
