BART service resumes after equipment problem

An equipment problem on the BART tracks between the 16th Street Mission and 24th Street Mission stations in San Francisco briefly caused the closure of those two stations and disrupted service for the agency's trains in the area, a dispatcher said.

The trackside equipment problem was reported at about 8:40 a.m., and caused the closure of the 16th Street Mission and 24th Street Mission stations while crews investigated the problem, the dispatcher said.

After running a test train through the area, crews determined that it was safe to resume service. The stations reopened and regular service resumed as of 9:30 a.m., according to the dispatcher.
