2010 could be disappointing for salmon fishing

SACRAMENTO, CA

The 2009 Fall Chinook salmon run may set a new record low, which means fishing could be restricted for a third year in a row.

Regulators banned all commercial salmon fishing in California and Oregon in 2008 and 2009 because of the low numbers.

The problems likely stem from poor ocean conditions, which reduce the food supply and trouble in the Sacramento-San Joaquin Delta, caused by pollution, water diversion and non-native predators.
