It happened around midnight in the Potrero Hill district at 18th and De Haro Streets. A traffic officer believes both vehicles may have run stop signs at the intersection.
The bus ended up careening into the bushes off De Haro Street. Nine people on that bus, including two pregnant women, were injured. Seven of them were taken to the hospital. The driver of the utility truck suffered broken bones to the foot and arm.
San Francisco police and Muni officials are conducting separate investigations into the accident.
