Two men arrested for driving through park

CONCORD, CA

At about 10:10 p.m. police received a call reporting a vehicle driving through Newhall Community Park, which is located north of Bonicacio Street and east of Port Chicago Highway.

When they arrived, officers saw a 2004 Toyota Tacoma pickup truck driving on the grass and near a memorial in the park, police said.

Several officers arrived and blocked each possible exit from the park.

The truck attempted to drive out of the park near Turtle Creek. As it did so, it allegedly drove over a metal pillar designed to prevent drivers from entering the park, police said.

When police stopped the truck in the parking lot, the passenger, 35-year-old Concord resident Wayne Wojcik, allegedly got out of the truck and challenged officers to fight. Police used a Taser to subdue him and then arrested him on suspicion of being drunk in public and resisting arrest, police said.

The driver, 33-year-old Concord resident Travis Krauss, was arrested on suspicion of driving while intoxicated and vandalism, police said.

Police found that the pair had caused extensive damage throughout the park, police said.
