High winds knock down trees in the Bay Area

SAN FRANCISCO

A tree fell into a home in Sonoma County. The Beech Road home's owner says he and his wife were awoken at around 4:30 this morning, by the sound of trees cracking. They got up only to discover the huge mess that was left behind.

Police say a driver in Woodside was lucky to escape injury after high winds knocked a tree onto her SUV. The accident happened as she was driving along Old La Honda Road. Crews say the tree got caught in a phone line, which helped lessen the impact of the fall.

A 100-foot tall cypress tree came down Tuesday morning in Santa Cruz, crushing a parked car on Clark Avenue. The home behind it also had its roof damaged, but no one was hurt.
