Internet retailers told to stop deceptive practices

Prominent internet retailers got a warning on Thursday to stop letting deceptive discount marketers share their websites.

Twenty-two retailers including Priceline.com, Barnes and Noble, and Pizza Hut received an investigative subpoena from New York's attorney general for allowing discount clubs to piggyback on their sites.

What happens is customers click on a box offering a discount not realizing they are agreeing to join a club and pay a monthly fee. 7 On Your Side gets plenty of complaints about that.

Already, the online movie-ticket seller Fandango has agreed to stop.

Priceline tells 7 On Your Side it has also ended relations with a major discount clubs.
