Mother organizes march in the Mission

SAN FRANCISCO

They ended with a rally at the 16th Street BART station, where they protested planned city budget cuts to after-school programs and youth groups.

"We're united to work together and bring change and peace to the community, to save lives, to get people out of gangs into alternatives, to help people coming out of jail, to stay out of jail," said Ray Balberan, from the San Francisco Community Response Network.

Organizers say if the budget cuts go through, 1,000 children who live in the Mission District will have to find new things to do with their time.
