American moms donate breast milk to Haiti

SAN JOSE, CA

A San Jose milk bank is among 10 across the country that got the call for help earlier this week.

It contributed breast milk which normally goes to fragile American infants and is now trying to replenish its supply.

The first shipment of breast milk has arrived on the U.S. Navy ship Comfort off the Haitian coast where babies are receiving neonatal care.

Aid workers are discouraging the use of formula for newborns in Haiti because the water is dirty and sanitation a problem.
