Two suspects set man on fire in Santa Rosa park

SANTA ROSA, CA

Officers were called to Finley Park, located at 2060 W. College Ave., at about 7 p.m. When they arrived they found Santa Rosa resident Timothy Lee Whisman with serious burns to his legs.

He was transferred a local hospital.

Detectives from the Santa Rosa Police Department's Violent Crimes Unit were called to interview the suspects.

There apparently had been a verbal confrontation between Whisman and two suspects who sprayed him with lighter fluid. The suspects then lit Whisman on fire, severely burning his legs from his knees to his ankles.

The suspects were identified as Everett Lee Lincoln, a 39-year-old Santa Rosa resident, and Steven Dearll Prophet, a 48-year-old Santa Rosa resident.

They both were arrested for assault with a deadly weapon and arson causing great bodily injury. Both suspects were booked at the Sonoma County jail.
